Community — Chamber of Commerce

Bay of Plenty Energy

The Eastern Bay Chamber of Commerce

The Eastern Bay Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary association of companies and individuals involved in commercial activity. As a local business advocacy group, the Chamber represents the interests of members in Whakatane, Kawerau and Opotiki.

The Chamber's aim is to positively influence the business environment in the Eastern Bay through working to actively promote freedom of enterprise, business growth and regional development for the benefit of our members and the local communities

How we work

Although the Eastern Bay Chamber of Commerce operates locally and represents the specific interests of their members and this region, the Chamber is also part of a much broader organisation that has influence at a national and international level.

The Eastern Bay Chamber supports and advocates for local business in a range of ways:

  • Producing regular newsletters to keep members informed on issues, opportunities and news relevant to local business
  • Providing leadership and strong representation to local, regional and national government
  • Organising or informing members on upcoming training opportunities or seminars that may be of interest
  • Arranging 'After 5' meetings to assist members to develop their business networks
  • Operating as the 'voice' of local business by orgainising and assist with submissions & letters on behalf of members
  • Publicising responses to local issues with pro-active public pronouncements and media releases
  • Arrange special offers and preferential group deals that are exclusively available to Eastern Bay Chamber of Commerce members.

In addition to the local benefits that we provide our members, the Eastern Bay Chamber of Commerce is able to leverage the collective strength of 32 Chambers nationwide for greater lobbying power and access to a wider range of skills and resources as required. The Chamber is also part of the World's largest trade and business organisation with over 20,000 Chambers internationally.
