Local Generation

Bay of Plenty Energy operates a number of local generation schemes that help to provide very competitive pricing and security of supply to our customers. Bay of Plenty Energy also has a 50 percent interest in the Kapuni co-generation scheme.

Innovation and quality is very much part of Bay of Plenty Energy's culture, but nowhere is that quality so evident than in the company's generation activities.

Bay of Plenty Energy's generation is environmentally friendly and based on renewable hydro-electricity at Aniwhenua and geothermal generation in Kawerau as well as clean-burning natural gas facilities located in Edgecumbe and Kapuni. Safeguarding our environment for the benefit of future generations is a key part of our long-term commitment to our region as the locally based energy supplier to the Bay of Plenty.
