How often do I get a bill?

All customers are billed monthly. We aim to read all meters in urban areas every month and all rural customer meters every second month. If we are unable to read your meter in any month, we will estimate your usage based on previous meter readings.

How can I pay my bill?

There is a range of payment options available to Bay of Plenty Energy customers. One of the most popular and hassle free is Direct Debit which will also ensure that your account is kept up-to-date and that you receive any prompt payment discounts that may apply. You are able to choose the payment option that best suits your needs and lifestyle.

Who reads the meters for Bay of Plenty Energy?

Bay of Plenty Energy Energy has its own dedicated team of meter readers who aim to read urban meters monthly and rural meters every second month. By employing our meter readers from within our Bay of Plenty community we ensure that they have excellent local knowledge of our region and are known to many of our customers.

Their clearly marked vehicles, distinctive uniforms and identification badges make it simple to identify all of our meter readers.

What happens if the power/gas goes off?

All you have to do is call our Faults Service on 0800 500 710. This number is monitored seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Who owns the lines and do you charge for them?

We collect a charge from you on behalf of the lines companies. This charge is included in the daily and variable charges on your monthly energy account.

What can I expect to happen if my power goes out?

If your power goes off for any reason, please call our Faults Service on 0800 500 710 and our Faults Team will be able to advise you if there is a Fault in your area and what sort of time frame it will take to resolve.

If your property has been disconnected for non-payment of Account you can also call us on 0800 500 710 and discuss payment options with one of our team.

Can I see my account online?

At this time you can't see your account online, but in the future Bay of Plenty Energy hopes to be able to offer account information on-line. We will inform customers when this service is available.

Will I be notified if the price changes?

If Bay of Plenty Energy proposes a rate change to your agreement you will be notified of the change in accordance with the provisions of Bay of Plenty Energy's Terms of Supply.
