How do I sign up for service?

Simply complete the online application form or, if you prefer, print the form and post it to us. Alternatively, simply call toll-free on 0800 500 710 and speak to our Customer Care Team. We're here to help.

I'm not on mains gas and only need electricity. Can I still use Bay of Plenty Energy?

Absolutely. Bay of Plenty Energy can supply you with electricity or gas or both. It's your choice.

I only need gas - can I still use Bay of Plenty Energy Energy?

Bay of Plenty Energy is happy to supply electricity alone but if you require gas from us you must have both your gas and electricity with us on a single account.

As a "dual fuel" customer, we can read your gas and electricity meters with one visit, send a single account and only need to process one monthly payment. This saves our customers time and hassle and also results in cost savings to us that are passed onto our customers in our competitive gas prices. These savings are not possible if you were to purchase only natural gas from Bay of Plenty Energy and so we're unable to accept gas only customers.

What is an ICP?

ICP stands for Installation Control Point. We need your ICP number for the quick process of connection. This number is unique to your property. It is normally found near the top of your power account.

Can I sign up to Bay of Plenty Energy for my business?

If I sign up, do I have to call the lines company?

No. Bay of Plenty Energy will handle all aspects of the sign-up process. All you have to do is choose the best payment option for you and make arrangements to pay your Bay of Plenty Energy bill each month.

Is there a line charge?

Yes. Line companies own the lines and charge through us. This is incorporated into your daily and usage charges.

Is there a bond?

Yes, in some circumstances. Talk with our Customer Care Team on 0800 500 710 for full details on whether a bond applies for your account and the amount that this will be.

How will I know when I'm being supplied by Bay of Plenty Energy Energy?

Once your application has been accepted or you have moved house, within 2-3 weeks you will receive a letter welcoming you to Bay of Plenty Energy. The switch will take place as soon as possible after that date. You will start receiving statements from Bay of Plenty Energy within a month or two of your switch.

How long do I have to stay with Bay of Plenty Energy?

Residential customers are not required to sign up for a period of time with Bay of Plenty Energy. Our customers choose to remain with us because we are committed to listening to their needs and ensuring that the services that we offer best meets those needs. Also, as your locally based company, customers appreciate our local knowledge, personal service and the investment that we make in our community and region.
